R. Chaim Brovender, Rosh Yeshiva
Rabbi Chaim Brovender is the Rosh Yeshiva of WebYeshiva and President of ATID — The Academy for Torah Initiatives and Directions in Jewish Education, in Jerusalem. He was the founding Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Hamivtar and Michlelet Bruria (today, Midreshet Lindenbaum) where he pioneered the teaching of Gemara to students for whom the Talmud had been a closed book. For over forty years he has been a leading force in teaching Torah in Israel and enabling his students to “learn how to learn” according to the renowned “Brovender Method.”
R. Dovid Fink, Program Director
In addition to being one of Rabbi Brovender’s first students, Rabbi Dovid Fink is an outstanding expert and teacher of Halacha. Rabbi Fink received his Rabbinic ordination from ITRI and the Mir and was awarded his Ph.D in Semitic Languages and Linguistics from Yale University. Rav Fink has taught thousands of students from all over the world for over 30 years.
R. Yehoshua Geller
Rabbi Yehoshua Geller received Smicha from Rav Mordechai Elefant zt”l and the ITRI Yeshiva, where he was a Talmid for many years. He served as the Rosh Beit Medrash of the English Speakers’ Program at the Jerusalem College of Technology/Machon Lev, Rabbi Geller has also taught at Yeshivat Yam HaTalmud and Yeshivat Hamivtar. Rabbi Geller holds an M.A. in Hebrew Studies.
Rabbanit Sally Mayer
Rabbanit Sally Mayer teaches Talmud and Halakhah at Midreshet Lindenbaum, where she also serves as a mentor to her students, and has worked as an editor for the new Koren translation of the Talmud. In the U.S Sally was a member of the core faculty that helped to build Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls in Teaneck, NJ, where she chaired the Talmud Department and directed Israel Guidance. She holds a BA from Stern College and an MA in Medieval Jewish History from Yeshiva University. Sally lives in Neve Daniel with her husband and children.
R. David Brofsky
Rabbi David Brofsky is a senior faculty member at Midreshet Lindenbaum and writes a weekly halakha shiur for the Virtual Beit Midrash (VBM). He is the author of Hilchot Tefilla: A Comprehensive Guide to the Laws of Daily Prayer, and the recently published Hilkhot Moadim: Understanding the Jewish Festivals. He lives in Alon Shevut with his wife, Mali, and four children.
Mrs. Aviva Stern
Aviva Stern is a Yoetzet Halacha and Jewish educator. She has a BA in Jewish Studies and an MA in Bible, both from Yeshiva University. She completed Nishmat’s Keren Ariel fellowship for Yoatzot Halacha, and she is an experienced kallah teacher. Prior to making aliyah, Aviva taught Limudei Kodesh at Yeshiva Har Torah in Queens, New York. She has given shiurim in both the U.S. and Israel and lives in Efrat with her husband and four children.
Rabbi Uri Cohen
Rabbi Uri Cohen teaches at Midreshet Moriah and Midreshet HaRova. He learned at Yeshivat Shaalvim, Yeshivat Hamivtar, and received Semicha from RIETS (YU) and Yeshivat Hamivtar. He holds Masters degrees in Medieval Jewish History and Jewish Education from Yeshiva University. He and his wife Dr. Yocheved Engelberg Cohen live in live in Ramat Beit Shemesh. They previously served as the first members of the Syracuse Kollel, and later as the first couple of the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) at Princeton University.
Rabbi Dr. Gidon Rothstein has semicha from YU (RIETS) and a PhD from Harvard. He has worked in shul rabbinate, high school and adult education. He is the author of both fiction and non-fiction, most recently “As If We Were There: Readings for a Transformative Passover Experience”. He lives in Riverdale, NY.
